The career trajectory of Chef de Cuisine Michael Castaneda is one of remarkable accomplishments. Starting fourteen years ago as a dishwasher, he gained invaluable hands-on experience and steadily advanced his skills. Rising to Sous Chef with oversight of 64 team members, Michael‘s talents were evident. In 2019, he brought these abilities to Jamul Casino Resort as Cook II, quickly distinguishing himself with superb work ethic and innate leadership skills. Only two years later, Michael‘s merit is clear – as Chef de Cuisine of Tony Gwynn’s Sports Pub, he leads all culinary operations and teams. He was named 2024’s Best Chef in San Diego by the Union-Tribune Readers and under his guidance, Tony Gwynn’s upholds the highest standards of quality cuisine. Michael‘s success directly reflects his commitment to culinary excellence and his passion for creating memorable dining experiences.
